Life of the octopus - Tina
Sometimes, I used
to think
That being a shark
sucks
Wanted to live
near land and trees
But shell fish
Tara used to tell me
It’s warm here
under the sea.
But now I know a
little
About what humans
do on land
Let me tell you;
it all started when
Tina, the octopus
was trapped
By a fisherman
named Ben.
He took Tina
somewhere,
Made her live in a
bucket
And then sold her
to some hotel.
Now Tina had a
glass view to see the world
And some terrific
stories hard to tell.
First, it was a
young lady’s birthday,
She bought a giant
Strawberry cake.
She came to the
pond and selected
Mike the lobster
from east
Chosen by this
fine lady, Mike was so elated.
But Tina’s
colleagues in the pond were glad
They weren’t the
chosen one
While that lady
cut her cake with friends
That poor lobster
danced in pain
And Tina saw it
live, how her life will end.
Tina’s pond mates
told her - humans only love their pets
Most probably cute
cats and handsome dogs
Rest of us are
their happy meal.
To satisfy their
taste buds
We have to see the
terrific end, not a big deal?
Tina cried,
screamed and struggled
While the human
world just saw her swim
According to them,
she was being
Perfect sea food
to satisfy their gut
As if only human
lives matter among all living beings.
The next morning an
old woman came
She looked rich
and had an inviting aura
And then she
bought all of them – Tina and friends
Oh my whale! It
was going to be a massacre!
But it was
different from what Tina could comprehend.
May be some humans
can feel our pain
The old women sent
all the animals
Back to their
glorious sea
May be having good
taste was a secondary affair
May be she could
see our horror and anxiety.
So, that was the
journey of octopus Tina.
I would like to
tell you, she is doing well
And I’m having fun
like I should be.
Actually shark
life is pretty awesome
Plus, its warm
here under the sea.
